Korean Seniors Association Bible Study Members Visit Canaan Farm to Harvest Spring Wild Greens

Members of the Korean Seniors Association Bible Study group visited Canaan Farm, where they enjoyed a special day harvesting spring wild greens and spending time together.

The Korean Seniors Association holds a Bible study meeting every Monday at 2:00 p.m. This particular gathering was held at Canaan Farm at the invitation of Pastor Yoon, the senior pastor of Fenwick Church, and his wife, Mrs. Park Nan-eung.

The participants enjoyed a time of fellowship over a thoughtfully prepared meal at the farm. The meal featured a generous variety of traditional Korean dishes that are not often easily available, including bracken fern, garlic scapes, seasoned cucumber salad, various wild mountain vegetables, ssambap (rice wrapped in leafy vegetables), aged kimchi, and a pork dish.

A highlight of the day was the opportunity to personally harvest jeonho (Angelica gigas), which was growing throughout the farm. The hands-on experience received an enthusiastic response from the participants. Members enjoyed gathering the spring greens in the natural surroundings, and one participant commented, “The aroma is very pleasant and unique.”

Jeonho is a fragrant wild vegetable commonly used as a wrap, seasoned side dish, or ingredient in soybean paste soup. It is also known as an ingredient traditionally believed to aid digestion and promote blood circulation. Members of the Korean Seniors Association shared that “being able to personally harvest jeonho in the beautiful surroundings of the farm, enjoy thoughtfully prepared food, and spend time in fellowship together made for a precious afternoon of comfort and healing.”

The Korean Seniors Association expressed its deep appreciation to Mrs. Park Nan-eung and Pastor Yoon for their dedicated service and for thoughtfully preparing meals for and caring for the senior members each week.
